O Black Eyed Peas em 2005 deu uma longa pausa em sua carreira. Em 2009, logo após 4 anos, eles voltaram com tudo com o álbum The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies). O disco foi lançado em:

Esse foi o melhor álbum da história do Black Eyed Peas até hoje, já vendeu mais de 11 milhões de cópias no mundo todo. Ficou na primeira posição em diversas paradas de sucesso e foi o segundo mais vendido de 2009 (que foi lançado este ano).
O quinto álbum da banda norte americana foi um álbum de grandes recordes, três singles ocuparam a primeira posição na Billboard Hot 100 (maior parada musical do mundo): Boom Boom Pow, I Gotta Feeling e Imma Be. Meet Me Halfway, 3º single do disco, ocupou a 1ª posição na Austrália, na Bélgica e no Reino Unido. Rock That Body, 5ºsingle, ocupou a 9ª posição na Billboard Hot 100.
Mas o que fizeram história mesmo foram Boom Boom Pow e I Gotta Feeling. Boom Boom Pow permaneceu 12 semanas em 1º lugar na Billboard Hot 100 perdendo o reinado apenas para o segundo single de The E.N.D., I Gotta Feeling, que ficou mais 14 semanas em 1º lugar. Juntando isso, o Black Eyed Peas ficou 26 semanas liderando a Billboard Hot 100, ou seja, 6 meses como a banda mais ouvida.

O líder do Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am, demonstrou seu interesse pela tecnologia. Canções como Electric City fala sobre o assunto. E os clipes de The E.N.D. também falam sobre a tecnologia: Boom Boom Pow, Imma Be e Rock That Body. Principalmente os dois últimos que os Peas juntaram, fizeram até uma história antes da música que fala da tecnologia, robôs, e etc.
